JM146, Port Antonio, about 60 miles north of Kingston on the verdant island of Jamaica, was Jamaica’s primary tourism attraction long before Montego Bay and Ocho Rios became popular. This is where celebrities of cinema fame spent their Caribbean holidays. Present-day Port Antonio still holds a healthy roster of notables, from screenwriters and novelists to the international jet set, catering to vacationers seeking a hassle-free hideaway. The area boasts a wide variety of daytime and evening activity in some of the most beautiful surroundings found in the tropics. JM146 is a lush 12-arce retreat in the center of the exclusive San San Estate, where private vacation homes are scattered throughout the surrounding hillsides. With breathtaking views of the turquoise waters at San San Beach, the 28 villas are nestled together on a rolling green knoll at the foothills of the Blue Mountains. All the villas are self-contained and feature a fully equipped kitchen, living room, dining room, and covered terrace. The bedrooms are air-conditioned and have Hunter ceiling fans (as does the living room). Each bedroom has a private bath; additionally the two-bedroom villas, there is a powder room on the ground floor. Every villa is staffed with a cook/housekeeper to prepare and serve meals, assist in shopping or ta JM146 facilities include a freshwater swimming pool and two lighted tennis courts. If a car is not included, auto transfers from Kingston are available for approximately $116 for two and $145 for 3-7.
