Beach - A great beach to relax and swim. Not rocky at all. Charges (extra) - Spa treatments, golf, hairdresser and motorized water sports and diving would be extra. Distances- Located in the Playacar Resort area and about a 20 minute walk into Playa del Carmen or a short 5 minute cab ride for only $5 each way. I really like Playacar. It has this secure upscale feeling to it. I felt very safe walking outside the resort in the evening. Entertainment on Property - Different show every evening for 7 nights in a row. Varied entertainment and activities during the day and evening. There is also a Disco for late night dancing. Fitness Area - A great fitness center and Spa.
Getting Around - Very easy to get around the resort. Not spread out like some of the others in the Riviera Maya. Internet Access -There is an hourly charge for internet access. Jackets and Ties - Keep them at home, but bring slacks and polo shirt for dinner in the A la Carte restaurants. Kids -There are three levels of kids clubs depending on the ages of the children. I got the feeling they were very family friendly. Lighting -The resort is well laid out and well lit at night. Medical Services -On call medical services. Negatives - My only complaint and this is true with many of the all-inclusive's is the number of times you are limited to eat at the A La Carte restaurants. I do understand that the resort wants to give everyone and opportunity to be able to dine at one of the other restaurants. Nightlife - Not only do you have the evening entertainment and the Disco, but there is plenty of nightlife in Playa del Carmen.
Pool -There are 4 pools and one is designed to look like a lake. Plus they have one of the best swim up bars. I wonder why I like swim up bars and infinity pools? Protection - In room safe at no additional charge . Recreation - You have tennis, billiards, volleyball, windsurfing, kayaking, the fitness center plus my favorite sport, lounging to name a few. Rooms -The rooms are nice size and for a little extra room the Jr Suites fit the bill. Shopping - Small gift shop on property. Plenty of shopping in Playa del Carmen. Terrain - A very tropical feel to the grounds. Tipping-Not required but as with any service industry, if your bartender, room service attendant or concierge really shines, they will appreciate the small gratuity since most people will not be tipping anyway. They will treat you royally.
View-Most of your views will be of the tropical gardens and pool and all will have a terrace or balcony. Weather-December through May are the driest months. September through November are the wettest months WOW Factor-The tropical setting is what sets this property apart. Also, the high level of service that Iberostar is known for. X-Y-Z-It would be hard not to like staying here. Would I come back, you bet I would! |

The Iberostar is approximately 30 miles from the Cancun Airport, just a few minutes from Playa del Carmen, and right next to an 18-hole golf course. The resort is situated directly on the beach, within view of the island of Cozumel.

Iberostar Tucan is a luxurious All-Inclusive beachfront resort in perfect harmony with the environ- ment. There are three different clubs available for children between the ages of 5 and 16 from 10:15 am to 5:00 pm. The Mini-Club is for kids between 5 and 7, the Maxi-Club is for 8 to 12, and the Teeny Club is for 13 to 16. Children's Facilities Babysitting Fee: $10 per hour

Ambiance - I have to say Iberostar has their act together. They have done a great job of blending the surroundings within the resort itself . It had a definite tropical feel to it. As usual with Iberostar's , the staff went out of the way to make me feel comfortable. 
Food - The are 6 restaurants, 3 are ala-carte of which are Mexican, Italian and a Steak House. A word of warning for the guys. Bring at least one pair of long trousers to wear at dinner if you want to get into the ala-carte restaurants. I guess the women can wear whatever they want. Not complaining mind you! 
Opportunities -The thing I love about Playacar is you are so close to Playa del Carmen so take the opportunity to get into town. 
Updates-It is amazing to me how well they held up from Hurricane Wilma. All of the Iberostar's held up well which is a credit to how well they are built.
