Beach-A good beach that you can walk from one stretch of Playa del Carmen to the other. Congested though since you are sharing with the locals and visitors. Great for people watching. Charges (extra) - Spa services and some of the motorized water sports. Distances-You sit on the north end of Playa del Carmen walking distance to everything. Entertainment on Property -Varied activities during the day and they have have their own shows in the evening. Fitness Area - Since the resort is new the fitness area has new state of the art machines plus they have an excellent spa facility.
Getting Around- This is the perfect walking resort since you are in the heart of town. Internet Access -They now offer free wireless internet access in the public areas. Jackets and Ties- Keep them at home but the men will need a pair of slacks and sports shirt for the specialty restaurants. Kids-They will be converting over to an Adults Only resort in November of 2006 so you need to leave the kids home if you want to stay here. Lighting-The resort is well laid out and well lit at night. Medical Services-On call medical services.
Nightlife- Not as crazy as Cancun but plenty of nightlife all within walking distance. Opportunities-Take a day to take the ferry over to Cozumel, you can walk over to the ferry from the resort. Pool-There are two very nice pools, one that has all the activities and another that is more quiet. They also have 2 outdoor jacuzzis which is nice. Protection-In room safes. Recreation-Between the tennis court, billiard table, ping pong, water sports, fitness area and pools, you will have plenty to keep yourself occupied. The tennis court is roof top and lighted for you tennis enthusiasts. Rooms-The rooms here are all Junior or Master suites, beautifully decorated with flat screen tvs, marble floors and large balconies. The baths are shower only so keep that in mind if you require a bathtub. A unique feature is what they call the "Magic Box" in each room where you can have room service delivered without disturbing your privacy. Shopping-Small gift shop on property. Most of your shopping will be right in town of over in Cozumel.
Updates-Converting to Adults Only in November 2006. View-Most of the rooms will offer great views of the ocean. Weather-January through March are the driest months. October through November are the wettest months. WOW Factor-An upscale hotel right in the heart of Playa del Carmen. X-Y-Z-This has the great mix of being right in town and can go head to head with many of the nicer resorts along the Riviera Maya. Ambiance-This resort will give the Palace Resort a run for their money as the nicest hotel in Playa del Carmen. Like its sister property the Gran Porto Real this is for those of you who want to stay at a very nice resort and be able to walk outside the lobby and be right in the heart of Playa del Carmen. Almost like taking an upscale cosmopolitan hotel and putting it on the beach. It also went to an all adults resort. 
Food- 5 restaurants of which 2 are a la carte serving Mexican-French fusion and Oriental cuisine. You may also eat at its sister property the Gran Porto Real across the street so you really have access to 10 restaurants.
Negatives-If you want to bring the kids, this would not be a good fit. Also, since the beach is shared with locals it tends to be more congested. 
Terrain-Actually this is a smaller resort but looks larger since it is in the heart of town. Very convenient to get from your room to everything including the beach and ocean.
