Beach-The beach went through a major restoration in early 2010 and has never looked better. You can literally walk all the way to Playa del Carmen along the beach. In the opposite direction there are no resorts so it is a very quiet stretch of beach. Charges (extra) - Spa treatments would be extra. Distances- You are about a 30 minute walk or a 5 minute taxi ride into Playa del Carmen. Entertainment on Property -Varied entertainment and activities during the day and evening. They offer bike tours and even have their own disco.
Food- 8 restaurants of which 5 are A la Carte for dinner, with a steakhouse Brazilian, Asian, French and Mexican cuisine. Reservations are required and there is a limit to the number of times you can eat at one of the A la Carte restaurants. They will make exceptions if not totally full. Getting Around- Taxis are very inexpensive and you can walk into Playa del Carmen. Internet Access -They have internet access from the Select Club rooms and the Meeting Point. There is a charge unless you are in the Select Club. Jackets and Ties- Keep them at home, but bring slacks and polo shirt for dinner in the A la Carte restaurants.
Little Known Fact- They are one of the few all-inclusive resorts in the Riviera Maya that they say they can gua rantee connecting rooms in advance. Medical Services-On call medical services. Negatives- Since they built the new Riviera section they tend to have more time share representatives. Unless you want to spend valuable vacation time listening to a time share presentation a friendly no thank you is all that is needed. Nightlife- They have a disco on the property and there is nightlife in Playa del Carmen.
Pool-They have 7 pools of which one is adults only. I am a pool person so this resort fits the bill. Protection-In room safe. Recreation-You have plenty of activities at the resort and very close to some of the golf courses in Playacar and the Riviera Maya. Included in the all inclusive is tennis (unlimited use of courts during opening hours) and includes use of equipment (balls and rackets). Water sports like windsurfing,snorkeling equipment, sailing and canoeing, scuba diving lessons in the swimming pool and use of games room with billiards, table tennis, backgammon, chess, dominoes and cards. They also have daily program of social activities. Aerobics classes, calisthenics and beach activities. Pool games and water aerobics. Water basketball.
Shopping-Small store on the property and plenty of shopping in Playa del Carmen. Terrain- A large resort but designed well so you do not feel you have to walk forever.
View-Right on the ocean, fantastic views. Weather-Mid December through May has the best weather. September and October gets more rain. WOW Factor-The rooms that sleep a family of 5 and the kids club that will take children as young as 2 year old. Also the beach. X-Y-Z-This is one of my family favorites. Couples will enjoy it too. | Sandos Playacar is located in the glorious resort area of Playacar, on the corridor between Cancun and Tulum, facing the island of Cozumel. The Xel-Ha natural aquarium and the incredible X-Caret ecological theme park are a short distance away.

Ambiance- This is one of my favorite resorts in Playacar and I think I book more families and couples here than and other in Playacar. I was very impressed with the pride the staff has in their
resort. Very family friendly and one of the few that cater to young
children. This comes across in how well clients feel when they stay there. 
Fitness
Area - They have an adequate fitness area with most of
the machines you would need. 
Kids-This
is one of their strong points. They are one of only a few all-inclusive's
that has a baby club for 2 and 3 year olds. They also have a kids club and teen club. Very family friendly.
Opportunities-Since
you are so close to Playa del Carmen, take advantage of the ferry
to Cozumel. It is only a 45 minute ferry ride.
Rooms-This is the other strong point of the resort. They are one of the only all-inclusive resorts that will allow a family of five, 2 adults and 3 children in one room. They have a new room category called the Riviera Junior Suites plus the Hacienda Junior Suites have their own pool shared by only 9 other rooms in the villa.
They also have connecting rooms in two room categories, the standard rooms and Hacienda Jr. Suites garden view. They also offer what is called the Select Club which offers more private check in, private beach area, free internet, preferential restaurant reservations and other amenities. 
Updates-They went through a multi million dollar renovation in 2007 and added the new Riviera Junior Suites.
