Beach-The beach picked up about 10 feet of additional sand from hurricane Wilma. It is actually larger than and nicer than before. If you want to spend a lot of time swimming in the ocean, which most people don't, the water is not as blue and pristine as some of the other resorts. Charges (extra) - Spa treatments, golf, hairdresser and motorized water sports would be extra. Distances- In the Riviera Maya south of Cancun. This is the closest property to Cancun Island so it is not unrealistic to be able to get up to Cancun and enjoy the nightlife. They have a shuttle to Cancun that is free of charge.
Fitness Area - A great fitness center with treadmills, stepping machines and weight machines. Pretty well equipped. Food-The are 10, yes count them, 10 restaurants, 3 are ala-carte of which are Oriental, Mexican and seafood. This is a great choice for large families since you want choices and even though the other main restaurants are buffet style, there is enough variety. There is no limit to the amount of times you can eat at any of their specialty restaurants. Getting Around-Taxi is the key but it won't break the bank if you want to go into Cancun. They do offer a free shuttle to Cancun and Playa del Carmen.
Jackets and Ties- Keep them at home, but bring slacks and polo shirt for dinner in the A la Carte restaurants. Why is that the guys have a dress code and the women do not? Not an opinion, just musing. Kids- There is a kids club but I would say not as structured as some of the other resorts. I saw a good mix of young kids and teens at the resort. Little Known Fact- Did you know some forms or gambling are legal in Mexico? In 2007 Moon Palace introduced slot machines and a Sports Book. Even if you do not gamble the sports fanatics will love the multiple TVs showing the major sporting events for that season, and not just soccer. Cards, roulette and dice are not legal forms of gambling in Mexico so you will not see poker, blackjack etc here.
Negatives- For some people, the resort might be too large and not have the Mexican ambiance that other resorts might have. It is all personal preference for I know many people who love Moon Palace and go back there more than once. Nightlife- They have evening theme parties. Opportunities-Palace Resorts has a fantastic wedding package, one of the best in the business. Also, Palace Resorts offers free day tours, shuttles up to Cancun and Playa del Carmen and Wet and Wild Water Park which is a great value. Pool-Not technically an infinity pool but pretty darn close. I like the fact you can sit at the pool and stare out at the ocean and not get sand up your shorts! They even have an indoor pool which is not the norm. This is a pool persons heaven! Protection-In room electronic safe.
Rooms-Here is what I really liked about this property. All the rooms are fairly good size and have a jacuzzi! My suggestion is to be over in the Sunrise Section if you want to be closer to the sports book, nightlife and disco and the Nizuc section if you want to be closer to the kids club. Shopping-Small gift shop on property. Plenty of shopping in Cancun and Playa del Carmen. Terrain-Intertwined with lush grounds. You won't feel like you are in the jungle but then again you won't feel like you are a condo complex in Ft. Lauderdale either. Tipping-Not required but for as with any service industry it just really helps. View-The way the property is designed, the ocean view rooms actually look out over the pool that looks out over the ocean. Weather-December through May are the driest months. September through November are the wettest months WOW Factor-The rooms and large pool really seal the deal here. X-Y-Z-Everyone hypes their hotel ranking and I will not overstate things. Ambiance - I really liked the Moon Palace. Walking around the grounds you got a sense of a good mix of ages. You won't get that tropical feel of the grounds like other Mexican resorts. I think when you look at the all that is has to offer it has great value now competing with the newer properties. Plus this is a great resort for honeymooners with the jacuzzis in each room. 
Entertainment on Property -Varied entertainment and activities during the day and evening.
Internet Access -There is wireless access from the rooms and lobby, plus a small business center with PCs. 
Medical Services-On site medical services. 
Recreation-If you love tennis, they have 6 courts and golfers, you are next to a Jack Nicklaus designed championship course. All the motorized and non motorized water sports one could want and even a putt putt course.
