Beach - The beach is very nice and plenty of activities like parasailing. Not the pristine beaches you have in Cozumel or the Riviera Maya but very typical for the pacific side of Mexico Charges (extra) - Spa treatments, golf, hairdresser and motorized water sports and scuba would be extra. Distances - In what is known as the marina area. only 15 minutes into town, walking distance to the golf course and the Marina.
Fitness Area - A very nice facility with treadmills, free weights and jogging track. Food - The are 5 restaurants, 3 are ala-carte of which are Italian, International and a grill. A word of warning for the guys. Bring at least one pair of long trousers and nice shirt to wear at dinner if you want to get into the ala-carte restaurants. I guess the women can wear whatever they want. Not complaining mind you. Getting Around - Walking distance to the Marina and a short taxi ride into town.
Jackets and Ties - Keep them at home, but bring slacks and polo shirt for dinner in the A la Carte restaurants. Kids - Probably the most extensive of kids clubs catering to all ages. They have the Baby Rock Club for 4 months to 4 years old, the Bamm Bamm Club for 5-8 years old and the Cool Club for ages 9-13 all with ages appropriate activities. They even have a rock climbing wall for the adventurous types. This is one of the few resorts that allow infants in their program. Little Known Fact-The Melia is one of the few resorts in Puerto Vallarta that really caters to young children. Medical Services -On call medical services.
Nightlife - Theme parties and shows at the theatre. Opportunities -Guests get special rates at the golf course. Pool - I really liked the pool here and I am a pool person. The roman pillars and seating area in the middle make a nice place to bring your drink from the pool bar. They also boast the largest pool in Puerto Vallarta with its own children's section. Protection - In room safe at no additional charge. Recreation - Tennis courts with lighting, non-motorized water sports, diving demonstrations in the pool, aerobics, exercise room, jogging track, shooting gallery, fun workshops and a games room
Shopping - Small gift shop on property. Plenty of shopping in town. Terrain - Very easy to navigate around the property. Tipping-Not required but as with any service industry, if your bartender, room service attendant or concierge really shines, they will appreciate the small gratuity since most people will not be tipping anyway. Updates-The flinstones theme is new. View-Try and get the ocean view rooms if you can.

Ambiance - Of all the resorts I have seen in Puerto Vallarta, this I have to say is one of the most family friendly. Yes, other resorts have kids clubs and such but you could really get a sense from the staff and the activities, they really like kids! A great combination of location, amenities and being family friendly. This was one of the first Melia's to introduce the Flinstones' theme Bamm Bamm Club and Yabba-Dabba-Doo Bazaar.
Entertainment on Property -
Varied entertainment and activities during the day and shows at the theater and theme parties in the evening. 
Internet Access -There is an hourly charge for internet access at the Internet cafe. 
Negatives - If you do not like kids, this is not the resort for you. 
Rooms -The rooms are nice size and offer a family room with two double beds and bunk beds. They will take a family of five in one room. Two adults and three kids.
Weather-December through May are the driest months. August is monsoon season and continues into September
