Beach - The beach is very nice and they boast an abundance of water sports. Charges (extra) - Spa treatments, golf, hairdresser and motorized water sports would be extra. Distances - In Nuevo Vallarta about 20 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta. Some people want to be closer to town but If you do not see yourself going into town each day, the location is just fine. Entertainment on Property - Varied entertainment and activities during the day and shows at the theater and theme parties in the evening. Fitness Area - The gym was recently renovated with treadmills,cycling machines, stair master, free weights and more.
Getting Around - Can you say TAXI? Internet Access -There is an hourly charge for internet access in the business center. Jackets and Ties - Keep them at home, but bring slacks and polo shirt for dinner in the A la Carte restaurants. Kids - I would still rank the Melia ahead in structured kids activities, especially children under 4 but this resort is no slouch. Excellent activities for kids and teens and there is even a pool dedicated to kids activities. Lighting -The resort is well laid out and well lit at night. Medical Services -On call medical services.
Nightlife - Theme parties and shows at the theatre. Plenty of nightlife in town. Pool - They have 4 pools and while the kids hang out at the kids activity pool with the watersides, I will hang at the adult swim-up bar pool. Ok, maybe I might partake in the water slide after a few cold ones. Protection - In room safe at no additional charge . Recreation - This is a feature of the resort. They have a ton of organized activities for both adults and kids. They even have cooking classes, tennis and golf lessons. Rooms -This is what sets this resort apart from the rest. They have anywhere from standard rooms to villas with 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. The Grand Building with the 1 and 2 bedroom Ocean Front suites have elevators but the other buildings are stairs only. The bedding in the 1 bedroom suite can be a king bed or 2 double beds with a sofa bed in the living area. All of the two bedroom suites have only a king bed in each bedroom with a sofa bed in the living area. This is one of my top choices for larger families and they cater to families.
Terrain - This is a large spread out property. If you want small and quaint this would not be the best choice. Tipping-Not required but as with any service industry, if your bartender or room service attendant really shine, they will appreciate the small gratuity since most people will not be tipping anyway. Updates-The Club Section is new. View-They do have rooms and villas with ocean views and oceanfront views. Weather-Avoid August and September, monsoon season. But I have had families stay in this region during these months and they had great weather. Who knows anymore! WOW Factor-Accommodations that will sleep 5 or more and all of the activities for the family. X-Y-Z - I wish more resorts were tailored after this one for handling larger families. Marival Resort is the largest All-Inclusive resort in Vallarta, with 11 Mediterranean villas and two five-story towers. This extensive beachfront property offers a total of 504 air-conditioned units, with either garden, pool or ocean views. Resort features include unlimited domestic drinks, four restaurants, seven bars, Ceasar`s Club Disco(no cover charge), nightly entertainment, three pools, two swim-up bars, four lighted tennis courts with a tennis clinic, and daily activities. Beach: The property is situated on 275 meters of clean, safe beach, and there are no marinas in the area. Ambiance -This is a perfect resort for larger families. The Club Section and Club Suites are the newest section of the resort. I would say this is a good solid 4 star resort and a great value for families. There are few all inclusive resorts that will sleep a family of 5 or more and this is one of them.
Food - The are 5 restaurants, 3 are ala-carte of which are Mexican, International and Italian. A word of warning for the guys. Bring at least one pair
of long trousers and nice shirt to wear at dinner if you want to get
into the ala-carte restaurants. I guess the women can wear
whatever they want. Not complaining mind you. 
Negatives - Just as long as you know you are not 5 minutes from town this resort is fine. In fact, Nuevo Vallarta is where all the new resorts are being built, very similar to the Riviera Maya south of Cancun.
Shopping - Small gift shop on property. Plenty of shopping in Puerto Vallarta.
