Ambiance-Relaxed is the word I like to use for this resort. A more traditional style and local feel to it than some of the mega resorts. I noticed guests were not wearing wrist bands and my rep said "we do not require our guests to wear wrist bands". I like how Dreams thinks!
Charges (extra) - Spa treatments would be extra. Distances-Make no mistake about it, Tulum is 2 hours away from Cancun. But worth the drive. Entertainment on Property -Plenty of activities during the day, weekly beach parties, and entertainment at night. They even have satellite feeds to be able to watch sporting events like the World Cup. For us sports junkies. Fitness Area - A brand new spa and fitness center. When Dreams takes over a property, you can be assured they bring it to a new level. Food- 5 restaurants of which 4 are A la Carte for dinner, with Pan Asian, Italian, Mexican and Mediterranean cuisine. Here is the best part, there is not limits to the number of times you can eat at any of the restaurants and you do not have to make advance reservations. You show up and if a table is not available, they will page you. Makes a great excuse to go have another beverage. Getting Around- Taxi or car rental.
Jackets and Ties- Keep them at home, but bring slacks and polo shirt for dinner in the A la Carte restaurants. Kids- Dreams is known for being family friendly. They have the Explorers Club for the kids and one of the few resorts that allow children 3-12 in the kids club. Most start at age 4. Lighting-The resort is well laid out and well lit at night. Medical Services-On call medical services. Negatives- I would say the only negative is a bit of rocky ocean. Opportunities-Dreams is one of the best for destination weddings, they even have their own chapel.
Protection-In room safe. Recreation-Aerobics, bike tours, salsa lessons, exercises, table tennis, tennis, volley ball, windsurfing, kayaks and the list goes on. Rooms-I was very impressed with what Dreams has done and the rooms are a bit larger than most resorts. Another thing they do once you start getting into the Junior Suites or above is they have what they call their Secrets Box for room service. When you order room service, they have a little box that opens from the outside and the inside so you never have to open the door in your jammies for room service. Shopping-Small gift shop on property with some in Tulum. Terrain-Very easy to get around this resort. Updates-Dreams just took over the resort at the end of 2005 and much of it is brand new.
Weather-December through May are the driest months. September through November are the wettest months. WOW Factor-As with all Dreams resorts, no wrist bands, no limits on the a la carte dining and their attention to service. X-Y-Z-Many resorts do either a great job catering to adults while others are excellent with families and kids. Dreams is one of the few that can do both very well. The following is David's professional opinion from a recent hotel inspection.
Beach- A nice beach but a bit on the rocky side as you get into the water, so if you love to swim in the ocean, I suggest bringing the water moccasins if you have tender feet like me. I am a pool person so you will not find me in the ocean anyway. 
Internet Access -They have access from the business center but not from the rooms at least at the time I was there.
Pool- The original pool overlooks the ocean where all the activities take place and the brand new pool is for adults only and nice and quiet. 
View-Many of the rooms have views of the ocean. The views are beautiful.
