The following is David's professional opinion from a recent hotel inspection.
Beach-Some will argue that this is the best beach in Puerto Vallarta. I think I might agree. Charges (extra) - Golf, hairdresser, motorized water sports and spa services would be extra. Distances- You would never know you are only 5 minutes from town as you are driving up the hill towards Mismaloya. Entertainment on Property -Varied entertainment and activities during the day plus nightly beach parties and beach movies. Plenty of entertainment in town during the evening.
Food- They now have 5 restaurants that include 2 a-la-carte restaurants serving Italian and Seafood. They also have 4 bars. Dreams has always been a step above most all-inclusive's when it comes to their quality of food and you do not need reservations at the a-la-carte restaurants. That is a big deal to me! Another benefit of Dreams is they do not limit the amount of times you dine at a specialty restaurant. Getting Around- Taxis are the most economical way to get around and since you are so close to town, it does not cost that much to get there. Internet Access -They did not offer internet access when I visited the resort but I think they have added wi-fi access from the lobby and now have computers you can use with high speed access.
Kids-Dreams added their Explorers Club and is one of the few resorts that will allow a 3 year old in the program. Most start at age 4. Lighting-Very beautiful at night. Medical Services-on call medical services. Negatives-If I recall some of the rooms do not have balconies.
Pool-I am a pool person and with the two pools, waterfalls, beautiful beach and great view, I am a happy camper. You might also find me sliding down the water slide, move over kids! Protection-in room safe Recreation-Non motorized water sports including boogie boards and surfing, tennis, beach volleyball, beach movies, rock climbing (I will leave that for others) and motorized water sports like jet skis. Rooms-Spacious studio suites and they offer 1, 2 and 3 bedroom suites. Very spacious and all have great views.
SPA-Since Dreams took over they really improved the SPA. Terrain- Dramatic backdrop with the lush green mountains and beautiful ocean. Updates-I hope Dreams keeps up the good reputation of this resort. View- Yowza, the ocean views are some of the best in Puerto Vallarta. Weather-Best weather starts in November through March. August and September tend to have more rain in the afternoon. WOW Factor- The views of this semi private beach and the lush green surroundings. X-Y-Z-If you look at the combination of the beach, the views, the beautiful resort and the quality of Dreams, this ranks as one of my top resorts near town. Dreams Digital Virtual Tour Click Here |

Ambiance-The last time I was here it was the Camino Real. This has always been one of the favorites of Puerto Vallarta and once Dreams took it over they raised the bar. With the renovations and level of service this resort gets rave reviews. The other thing I like about Dreams is you do not have to wear those silly wrist bands, the badge of honor for most all-inclusive's.
Fitness Area -Since Dreams took over the property they improved the Spa and fitness area.
Jackets and Ties- Keep them at home, but bring slacks and polo shirt for dinner in the A la Carte restaurants.
Opportunities-I believe guests at Dreams get special pricing at the Marina Vallarta Golf Course. 
Shopping-small gift shop on property. Plenty of shopping downtown.
