Beach-Wow, as writer on the Travel Channel says "is all Quite possibly the most exquisite secret in Mexico, Maroma Beach is a resort hideaway intent on preserving the ecology of its 500-plus acres of beach and rain forest". Also voted by The Discovery Travel and Living Channel as the most Romantic beach in Mexico. I have to agree! Charges (extra) - Spa treatments and one of the restaurants (La Terraza) would be extra. I have never understood why an all-inclusive resort would make one of their restaurants not part of the package but it apparently works for them. Distances- Just 10 minutes north of Playa del Carmen.
Fitness Area - They have a small fitness area, nothing really fancy. But hey, you are on vacation right and I would rather get my work out strolling along the beach. Food- 5 restaurants of which 2 are their specialty restaurants serving Mexican and International cuisine. As mentioned before their Seafood restaurant would be extra. Getting Around- Taxi is the key unless you want to rent a car which I do not suggest at all unless you have driven in Mexico before and are savvy to the rules of the road. Internet Access -There is a charge for access in their lobby.
Kids-They allow kids and have a kids club for ages 4-12. Little Known Fact-This resort attracts many Europeans, especially Italians and well, Europeans are not quite as shy as us when it comes to sunbathing. You won't catch me in those little speedos, that's for sure! Medical Services-On call medical services. Negatives- The rooms are kept at a constant 72 degrees so for people like me who like to keep my room at an Arctic temperature, that would be my only complaint. FYI, a little secret, the cooler rooms are in the 1000 building series.
Opportunities-Take a walk on one of the finest beaches. Pool-One main pool that is divided into a more adults only section and a section that has more of the activities going on. Protection-In room safe. Recreation-Plenty of non motorized water sports are available here. The beach is wide enough to have beach volleyball and still have plenty of room. Rooms-Though this has a beautiful beach, the way they have keep the lush grounds intact and the design of the buildings, they do not have ocean view rooms. The rooms are a tad smaller than some of the other resorts so if traveling with teens, keep this in mind as far as physical space in the room.
Terrain-Very easy to navigate, very tropical and lush. Updates-No major updates to report. View-Right on the ocean, but no ocean views. Weather-Mid December through May has the best weather. September and October gets more rain. WOW Factor-The beach and the tropical feel of the resort. X-Y-Z-You will be hard pressed to find a better value here for it tends to always price out very competitive. I think part of the reasoning is they do attract a good mix of Americans and Europeans. Ambiance- I wanted to see this resort for a while now since it always tends to price out very well. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. They have done a great job with keeping as much of the natural ecological grounds intact as much as possible. You get a very lush tropical feel here.
Entertainment on Property -Varied entertainment and activities during the day and evening. 
Jackets and Ties- Keep them at home, but bring slacks and polo shirt for dinner in the A la Carte restaurants.
Nightlife- Nightly entertainment at the resort and plenty of nightlife in Playa del Carmen.
Shopping-Small little shop at the resort and plenty of shopping in Playa del Carmen.
