Beach-By far one of the largest, if not largest beaches in all of the Riviera Maya. Even if all five sections were at 100% occupancy, you still would not have a problem finding a spot at the beach or pool. Charges (extra) - Golf, hairdresser, horseback riding and motorized water sports would be extra. Distances- In the Riviera Maya south of Cancun. About 15 minutes south of Playa del Carmen.
Fitness Area - They do have a very nice fitness area and sauna. Food-There are 7 restaurants, of which 5 are Specialty Restaurants serving Mexican, Brazilian, Caribbean, French and Oriental Cuisine. You also can dine at any of the restaurants at the sister properties next door so there is upwards of 17 restaurants to choose from. You also have 24 hour room service which is nice. Getting Around- Taxi is the best way to get around. Renting a car is not for the faint of heart.
Jackets and Ties- Keep them at home, but for the men bring slacks and polo shirt for dinner in the Specialty restaurants. Kids- Kids 4 -12 will enjoy the Barcy Kids Club with games, books, movies, a kitchen and video games. They also will love the kids pool with water slides. Little Known Fact- They are one of the few all-inclusive resorts in the Riviera Maya that they say they can guarantee connecting rooms in advance. I still always double check. Medical Services-On call medical services.
Nightlife- They have nightly entertainment in their open air theatre and for those who love to dance at night they have their own Discotheque. Well, actually they convert the Steakhouse into the Disco. Opportunities-Take advantage of the Premium Club if you can. The additional amenities are listed below after the room descriptions. Pool- Yowza! They have a massive swimming pool with an adults only section and a kids water park. You will not find me sliding down any water slides though.
Recreation-There is plenty for adults and kids with tennis courts, mini golf, kayaks, paddle boats plus lots of daytime activities for all. You can even book diving excursions at the resort. Rooms- Since the resort is fairly new I liked the rooms here, nice size with the smallest rooms being Junior Suites. And the Family suites are wonderful with over 1000 sq feet and can sleep up to six people with a King bed and two double beds and a kitchenette. Shopping-Small gift shop on property. Plenty of shopping in Playa del Carmen.
Terrain- Mostly flat and easy to get around. The Palace section is not that large but if you want to venture over to the sister resorts get your walking shoes on. Tipping-Not required but as with any service industry, if your bartender, room maid or bartender really shines, they will appreciate the small gratuity since most people will not be tipping anyway. Just a hint. Updates- This is Barcelo's newest resort in the Riviera Maya. View- If you stay in the Club Premium Section you have great views of the ocean. Weather-December through May are the driest months. September through November are the wettest months WOW Factor- The Family Suites are their claim to fame. I wish more all-inclusive's had them. X-Y-Z- Barcelo did a great job in creating a tad more upscale resort that is great for families but yet they have adults only sections making a perfect for couples too. Ambiance - This is the newest and best of Barcelo's mega complex having opened in December 2007. I love the Moorish style architecture and the way the plazas open up to the ocean. Barcelo has outdone themselves with their newest resort. 
Entertainment on Property -Varied entertainment and activities during the day and evening. Guests also have access to the entertainment at the other sister properties next door.
Internet Access -There is Wi-Fi access in all of the rooms at a cost of $12.00 per day. Club Premium members get internet access for free.
Protection-In room safe. 
SPA-Being so new they have a state of the art spa. You can get very pampered there.
